Responsibilities:

Pricing/Quoting Activity (35-55%)
· Working collaboratively with other Group Actuarial and Finance team members, pricing support, for new and inforce business, is provided in the preparation of quotation proposals and Canadian Group product/rate development initiatives.
Financial Analysis (35-55%)
· Working collaboratively with other Group Actuarial and Finance team members, pricing support is provided through thorough analysis of the profitability of client accounts.
· Experience analysis may include result review by account, loss ratio analysis, ROC/EV analysis, reserve movement analysis, expense analysis, claims activity analysis, profit sharing result analysis, pricing and reserving basis reviews, reporting & system requirements review, etc. Financial trends are determined and variations in results are explained. Analytical tools are developed and enhanced.
Other Client Support/Projects and Incumbent’s Development (10-20%)
· Other assigned projects and adhoc requests are completed per requirements. Support is provided to internal and any external clients and superior client satisfaction is achieved.
· Support is provided by assisting with domestic & international product/market research and any international product development initiative.
· Other project work may be of a varied nature and include rate review/development, reinsurance needs analysis, scenario modeling/stochastic simulations, etc.
· The Incumbent’s development is continued and his/her knowledge, skills and contribution.

Qualifications

· Approaching ASA designation and working towards FSA designation; actuarial experience in the Canadian Life and Health insurance industry.
· Strong analytical skills & superior attention to detail and accuracy.
· The ability to learn quickly.
· A constant need for achievement.
· Strong result and service orientation and a drive to make a difference.
· Strong sense of responsibility and commitment & excellent work ethic.
· Demonstrated effectiveness working under tight timelines with multiple priorities.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills.
· Group, pricing or financial analysis experience is a definite asset. Strong desire to enhance Group Life and LTD business knowledge.
· Adept at using Excel & Word. Access and AXIS knowledge is an asset.
